Club for Growth Backs Larry Kudlow for Top WH Post

The Club for Growth on Tuesday praised President Donald Trump's consideration of economist Larry Kudlow as chairman of the National Economic Council.

"Larry Kudlow would be a tremendous pick to lead the president's National Economic Council," President David McIntosh said in a statement.

"Club for Growth praises President Trump for his ability to attract top talent to join his staff," he added. "Larry Kudlow is only the most recent example of this."

Trump told reporters Tuesday that Kudlow, 70, a CNBC columnist and radio host, was being considered as a replacement for White House Economic Adviser Gary Cohn, who announced his resignation last week.

"I'm looking at Larry Kudlow very strongly," Trump said as he was leaving to view prototypes for the border wall in California. "He now has come around to believing in tariffs."

McIntosh said "at his core, Larry is a free-market, pro-growth advocate.

"He would be a valuable asset and adviser to President Trump," he added. "It would be a masterful appointment if the president gives Larry the nod."
