Democratic Rep. Patrick Murphy is now trying to unseat Florida Sen. Marco Rubio without help from Washington despite the race being awfully close.

According to Politico, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) pulled its spending before Monday night's debate between the two men.

Murphy is now sailing toward Nov. 8 on his own.

The DSCC had planned to spend $10 million worth of ads on the race before Rubio changed his mind in June and decided to run for reelection. Another group, the Senate Majority PAC, also pulled its remaining funding — to the tune of $6 million — after spending $3 million on helping Murphy win the election.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows Rubio with a 4.2-point lead. In a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday, Rubio leads by just 2 points.
