The FBI’s Russia probe had corrupt motives at the get-go to harm the Trump administration, Rep. Doug Collins told Fox & Friends on Wednesday.
“This was about getting at a president, the Georgia Republican said. “Let’s make this very clear. The whole investigation was centered around if we can get Flynn or we can get others to either lie or to do something, then we can get at President Trump, then candidate Trump. This was all about power and making sure that President Trump’s administration did not get off on the right foot.”
Collins was reacting to Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell’s declassification of a new batch of Russia investigation documents as he finishes his term, leaving the decision on whether to make them public up to new Director John Ratcliffe.
Included in this batch are transcripts of phone calls that former national security adviser Michael Flynn and then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak had in December 2016, during the presidential transition.
Other documents that have been declassified include one that a senior intelligence official told Fox News was “very significant in understanding how intelligence was manipulated to support launching the Russia investigation.”
