Incumbent Sen. Joe Donnelly is projected to have lost his seat to Republican businessman Mike Braun in Indiana, one day after President Donald Trump visited the state to push for Braun's election.
With 72 percent of the vote in, Braun was leading Donnelly by 54.1 percent to 41.8 percent, tipping the race away from Donnelly, who Trump panned Monday as an "extreme liberal Democrat" who had gone "rogue on the Democrats" by supporting Trump's call for a Mexican border wall.
ABC, NBC, and Fox News had all called the race for Braun, who held a double-digit lead over Donnelly.
Braun, the owner of a manufacturing-supply company, self-funded his primary run, defeating GOP Congressmen Luke Messer and Todd Rokita after the vote split between them, reports The National Review.
