President Donald Trump on Thursday took to Twitter to bemoan fake news, asking for the Senate Intelligence Committee to investigate "fake news networks."
The Twitter plea comes in the aftermath of Trump's assault on NBC News a day ago for its story on Rex Tillerson, reporting that the secretary of state nearly resigned after Trump's speech to the Boy Scouts. And that he called the president "a moron," something Tillerson refused to quell in a brief statement Wednesday but that the State Department would do later.
Trump doubled down on NBC in a tweet issued less than an hour later Thursday.
It also comes the day after Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr, R-NC, and ranking member Sen. Mark Warner, D-Virginia, reported that the issue of collusion with Russia is still unresolved and open.
