Donald Trump's
criticism of Starbucks' minimalist Christmas cups created media speculation about the store's future at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
According to Forbes, the well-polling GOP presidential contender appeared to hint
at the end of a lease at the popular coffee shop at his Fifth Avenue property.
"No more 'Merry Christmas' at Starbucks," Trump told a booing crowd in Illinois at the Monday night rally. "I have one of the most successful Starbucks, in Trump Tower. Maybe we should boycott Starbucks? I don’t know. Seriously, I don’t care. That’s the end of that lease, but who cares?"
Forbes reported it was unable to confirm terms of the lease, either through public records, the store manager or Trump representatives.
Meanwhile, the media
outlet BuzzFeed posted a series of clips from the speech – minus the audio – showing a woman in the crowd opening a copy of what appeared to be the 2014 book of poetry about race and racism in America,
"Citizen," by Claudia Rankine.
It also shows the woman texting and gabbing to the person sitting next to her.
