Trump Tweets Support of GOP Tax Bill

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday to promote the Republican tax reform plan currently before Congress, citing a letter 137 economists sent to lawmakers on Wednesday in support of the legislation.

Trump tweeted:

The economists maintained economic growth in the U.S. would "accelerate if the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passes." The reforms would lead to "more jobs, higher wages, and a better standard of living for the American people," the letter added, Business Insider reported.

Conversely, if Congress failed to pass tax reform legislation, they explained the result would be the risk of "continued economic underperformance."

The House is expected to vote on the tax reform legislation next week, should the Senate approve the measure. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday he expected the bill to pass in the Senate.
