President Donald Trump on Monday accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., of “crying for fairness in the Senate, and breaking all rules while doing so.”
Although the House passed articles of impeachment against Trump earlier this month, Pelosi delayed sending them to the Senate, saying she was waiting to “see the process that is set forth in the Senate,” for impeachment.
“Pelosi gives us the most unfair trial in the history of the U.S. Congress, and now she is crying for fairness in the Senate, and breaking all rules while doing so,” Trump tweeted early Monday morning. “She lost Congress once, she will do it again!”
“The House cannot choose our impeachment managers until we know what sort of trial the Senate will conduct,” Pelosi tweeted a few minutes before Trump’s comment. “President Trump blocked his own witnesses and documents from the House, and from the American people, on phony complaints about the House process. What is his excuse now?”
"What is a trial with no witnesses and no documents?" Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said at a press conference last Sunday, according to NBC News. "It's a sham trial. And that's why feel so strongly that there ought to be witnesses and documents."
