Fifty-three percent of Americans oppose President Donald Trump’s desire for a massive military parade in Washington DC, according to a Rasmussen Reports survey released on Wednesday.
Only 35 percent favor a military parade, while 12 percent are undecided.
Other results from the poll include:
- Sixty percent of Republicans favor a parade, while 28 percent oppose it. Among Democrats, 17 percent support the idea, while 75 percent are against it. Twenty-eight percent of independents want a parade, while 54 percent do not.
- Even among those who have either served in the military or have family in the armed forces, 51 percent are against the idea of a parade to showcase the country’s military strength, while 37 percent support the idea. Among those without military ties in their family, only 31 percent support the idea of a parade, while 57 percent oppose it.
- Fifty percent of males are against the idea of a parade, while only 39 percent support it. Opposition to the idea is stronger among females at 55 percent, while only 31 percent support it.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted on February 11-12. The margin of sampling error is 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
