President Donald Trump issued an endorsement for Kris Kobach, who on Tuesday is running for the Republican nomination for governor of Kansas.
"He is a fantastic guy who loves his state and our country—he will be a great governor and has my full and total endorsement," Trump said in a tweet.
Kobach gained a national profile over his efforts to pass voter ID laws nationwide, The Hill reported.
The Kansas official, along with Vice President Mike Pence, headed the now-disbanded voting integrity commission that the Trump administration launched. It uncovered no evidence to support the president’s claims of widespread voter fraud, said an analysis of administration documents released. "There’s no real evidence of it anywhere," said Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.
