President Donald Trump on Monday said a claim by Vice President Joe Biden he might use the coronavirus crisis to try to postpone the Nov. 3 presidential election was nonsense.

"I never even thought of changing the date of the election. Why would I do that?" Trump said during the question-and-answer period of the coronavirus task force briefing.

"Nov. 3: It's a good number," he said, adding he is looking forward to the general election date.

The Hill reported Biden made the statement during a fundraiser Thursday saying it was the "only way he can possibly win."

"Mark my words I think he is gonna try to kick back the election somehow, come up with some rationale why it can’t be held," Biden reportedly told supporters.

The president called the speculation "made-up propaganda" by someone on Biden's staff, "not by him, but by some of the many people that are working, writing little statements."

"Sleepy Joe," Trump said, using the nickname he uses for his Democratic rival. "He didn't make those statements, but somebody did.

"No, let him know I'm not thinking about it at all – not at all," Trump concluded.
