President Donald Trump has withdrawn his federal lawsuit against Iowa pollster J. Ann Selzer and the Des Moines Register, according to a court filing made Monday, ending his challenge over a statewide poll that inaccurately favored his 2024 opponent, The Hill reported.
An attorney representing Selzer informed NPR that no settlement has been reached.
The lawsuit, filed in December, accused the newspaper and Selzer of violating Iowa's consumer fraud laws by allegedly "intentionally" misleading voters with an erroneous late-October 2024 poll showing then-Vice President Kamala Harris leading the presidential election in the Hawkeye State by three points.
Trump ultimately won Iowa by 14 points.
Selzer announced her retirement in November after deciding not to renew her contract with the Register, which had published her polling for more than two decades.
In the December state court lawsuit, Trump's legal team charged, "While Selzer is not the only pollster to engage in this corrupt practice, she had a huge platform and following and, thus, a significant and impactful opportunity to deceive voters." The case was moved to federal court in February.
The withdrawal comes amid a spate of legal actions by Trump against media outlets.
Last year, he sued ABC News after anchor George Stephanopoulos inaccurately described a jury's finding in E. Jean Carroll's defamation suit, resulting in a $15 million settlement.
Trump also has a pending lawsuit against CBS News' "60 Minutes," claiming an October 2024 interview with Harris was "intentionally edited to cast his challenger in a positive light."
Additionally, Trump recently threatened to sue The New York Times and CNN over reports on a preliminary intelligence assessment disputing his claims that U.S. airstrikes had "obliterated" three Iranian nuclear facilities in Operation Midnight Hammer.
