The group organizing the immigrant "caravan" that President Donald Trump referred to in a recent tweet have slammed the president for "bullying" immigrants and threatening "mass violence" against them.
A group of 1,000 migrants, mostly from Honduras, are making their way by foot, in vans and by train, through Mexico towards the U.S., though not all plan to enter the United States.
"On April 1st, the U.S. President opportunistically invoked refugee caravans as a pretext for threatening immigrants already in the country, specifically DACA recipients, with a so-called 'Nuclear Option' to remove their protections from detention and deportation," the group Pueblo Sun Fronteras, or People Without Borders, told Fox News.
"Trump is trying to turn Central American refugees and other immigrant communities against each other, and use them as a bargaining chip with Mexico," the group added, most likely referring to Trump’s ongoing negotiations with Mexico over the North American Free Trade Agreement.
"In the face of this bullying and these threats of mass violence, we continue to stand in solidarity with displaced people of all races, ethnicities, creeds, abilities, and gender and sexual identities," the group said.
