President Donald Trump's budget reflects the administration's expectation that special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation will bleed into 2019, Politico reports.
Mueller's probe is down for $10 million, the current spend rate, in fiscal year 2019, Politico reports.
Mueller's team is still interviewing witnesses, the special counsel's sit-down with Trump is still being negotiated, and Mueller has a criminal case pending against Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, the trial for which is expected in August or September.
Mueller's team is expected to interview former chief strategist Steve Bannon sometime this week.
It all points to a probe that will last well into 2019, given the fiscal year begins in October.
