Donald Trump Jr. fired back Wednesday night at former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon — calling him an “opportunist” who “squandered” his opportunity in the administration.
The shot followed an earlier tweet which Trump Jr. sarcastically thanked Bannon for the upset win in Alabama’s special Senate election race by Democrat Doug Jones over Bannon-backed GOP candidate Roy Moore. Jones was sworn in on Wednesday.
Bannon’s remarks in a book by Michael Wolff — released ahead of a Jan. 9 publication date — claim there was "zero" chance then-candidate Donald Trump wasn’t told about his son’s June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer who promised "dirt" on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately," Bannon was quoted saying in the book.
