The line of Republicans who spoke out at the Democratic National Convention against President Donald Trump was "a list of the biggest RINOs," or Republicans in Name Only, in government, and it's not likely that the GOP is "looking at any of those people as thought leaders," the president's son Donald Trump Jr. said Wednesday.
“I don’t think anyone’s going to say Cindy McCain is going to come and support Trump,” Trump Jr. told Fox Business' “Mornings With Maria" about the widow of Sen. John McCain, after her comments highlighting her late husband's friendship with Joe Biden.
He added that just about the only other Republican the Democrats could roll out would be Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, to "really round out the diversity of Democrats or Republicans for Biden, but I don’t think that’s going to happen, [because] that part of the show is over.”
Republicans who have spoken out include former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the last to drop out of the 2016 primary against Trump; ex-New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman; Quibi CEO Meg Whitman and former Rep. Susan Molinari, who delivered the keynote address at the 1996 GOP convention.
The Whitmans, Trump Jr. said, are the "worst RINO Republicans I’ve ever seen." He also slammed former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who endorsed Biden Tuesday while touting Biden's years of experience in foreign policy.
"I think that Colin Powell is obviously a little upset because we’re not in endless wars because of Donald Trump, we’re not trying to get into those things," Trump Jr. said.
Also, Powell voted for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, after not having voted for a Republican since 2004, said Trump Jr.
"I know they want that marketing boost of this is some sort of great Republican leader, but all he is is a warmongering leftist in reality,” Trump Jr. said. “The media will continue to try to boost it as though it’s a real thing, but the reality is, the Republican base, conservatives, they see what Donald Trump has done."
