President Donald Trump on Wednesday took a swipe at his Justice Department for not urging the Supreme Court to hear an Arizona case about denying driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
Trump tweeted that he agreed with Fox Business' Lou Dobbs' take on the matter during his Tuesday show.
Dobbs waxed indignant that the High Court decided against hearing the case without so much as a comment, and the host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" was apoplectic that the Trump administration - read DOJ - was so lax about it.
"I'm plenty critical of the administration, the Justice Department," Dobbs said during an interview with renowned attorney and Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz. "I think it's ignorance beyond belief."
At issue is that a federal appeals court last year ruled against Arizona's attempt to deny driver's licenses to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, despite their illegal status.
Dershowitz noted that the High Court hears just 2 percent of the cases brought before it.
"The Court grants review much more often when the United States government seeks it, but when the United States government opposes it or takes no stand, it's very very hard to get review by the Supreme Court."
