The Democratic Party launched a new ad in South Florida on Friday blasting President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ad targets seniors and highlights the impact of COVID-19 on older people, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The 30-second spot starts off with the narrator saying: “They tried to warn him, but when the coronavirus hit, Donald Trump refused to listen to experts. He said it would disappear. It didn’t. Ten of thousands of older Americans dead.”

It ends with the words: “Trump — throwing America to the wolves.

According to the Sentinel, the ad is appearing on cable TV in Palm Beach County. It also will appear to Pennsylvania, Arizona and Texas.

The newspaper noted senior voters are a key constituency that helped Trump win in 2016.

The Democratic National Committee said the ad is part of a six-figure campaign over the course of five weeks.

“Now, approximately 100,000 of our country’s seniors have lost their lives to the coronavirus,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said. “Thousands more have been hospitalized, and even those who have avoided the virus have been forced to isolate, preventing them from hugging their children and grandchildren. And it’s all because of Trump’s failure of leadership.”

Meanwhile, Trump's reelection campaign has reportedly pre-booked $16 million in television spots in key battleground states for the fall.
