Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., sent a tweet Wednesday calling on Russian bots to make a link about "mainstream media" conspiracy theories go viral.

Nunes' tweet contained a link to a Federalist report that said Rep. Adam Schiff. D-Calif., has been "claiming, without benefit of specifics, the existence of a vast conspiracy between President [Donald] Trump and Russia."

Russian "bots" are applications that perform an automated task. Twitter bot creators make up hashtags on social media about particular topics, such as the Florida school shooting, The New York Times reported.
