House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Tuesday sent a questionnaire to at least a dozen current and former government officials regarding their knowledge of the infamous dossier about President Donald Trump, The Daily Caller reports.
The letter went to as many as two dozen "high level" officials, the Daily Caller reports.
The Nunes' nastygram, obtained by the Daily Caller, has 10 questions that, if not answered voluntarily, would spur a legal process.
"If you do not provide timely answers on a voluntary process, the Committee will initiate compulsory process," the Daily Caller quoted the letter.
Nunes and congressional Republicans are still in pursuit of answers as to how an unverified yet salacious dossier authored by former British spy Christopher Steele ended up playing a significant role in the Russia investigation.
A sampling of the questions, according to the Daily Caller:
- When and how did you first become aware of any of the information contained in the Steele dossier?
- What official actions did you take as a result of receiving information contained in the Steele dossier?
- When did you first become aware that the Steele dossier was used to obtain a FISA order on Carter Page?
- Was President Obama briefed on any information contained in the dossier prior to January 5, 2017?
