Democrats are "fighting to take away private insurance" and tax Americans for it, claims President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale.
"Democrats are fighting to take away private insurance, tax you for it, and then convince you that the Government will give you better coverage," Parscale tweeted Tuesday night during the second Democratic presidential debate.
"So healthcare if the Democrats win: Lines waiting for care and a plummet in new doctors. Lastly taxes for the middle-class skyrocket!" he continued.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., defended his Medicare for All plan, calling the current health system "dysfunctional."
"87 million uninsured or underinsured, 500,000 Americans every year going bankrupt because of medical bills," he said. "30,000 people dying while the healthcare industry makes tens of billions of dollars in profit."
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., defended Sanders on several occasions, including once when former Rep. John Delaney, D-Md., slammed Sanders' plan.
"We are the Democrats," she said in response to Delaney suggesting the only way to achieve stability in the healthcare system was to get rid of the profits of the drug companies. "We are not about trying to take away healthcare from anyone. That's what the Republicans are trying to do.
"We should stop using Republican talking points in order to talk with each other about how to best provide that healthcare."
