A poll for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said party candidates running in swing districts in November "must express a willingness to work with the President when his agenda might help the district," Axios reported Thursday.
The internal poll, conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research in Washington, also said that Democrats "not appear out of sync with what people believe about the economy."
Further, the poll warned "Democrats away from campaigning specifically against Trump and, instead, toward embracing the improving economy with a message focused on the middle class," Axios reported.
The DCCC is targeting 101 Republican House seats this fall.
Among the findings, according to Axios:
- Fifty-six percent of the Democratic voters surveyed were "confident" about their economic future.
- Fifty-eight percent said the economy was improving due to "long term trends and the work of American people," while 40 percent credit Trump and Republicans.
- These are the biggest groups benefitting from the Republican tax-reform plan, according to respondents: corporations, 89 percent; wealthy people, 86; CEOs, 82 percent; and pharmaceutical companies, 56 percent.
