In a sign of just how desperate their election plight has become, Democrats filed their first legal challenges before polls even closed. They asked for an extension of voting hours in Connecticut and questioned the denial of provisional ballots in Illinois,

New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, told reporters that officials had gone to court in both states.
In Connecticut, the party requested a one-hour lengthening of voting in Bridgeport, a Democratic stalwart where turnout was apparently so high that officials ran out of ballots, Menendez says.
