WASHINGTON — The Democratic National Committee says it raised $6.7 million in July.
It was the DNC's lowest monthly amount since President Barack Obama launched his re-election campaign in April. Obama cancelled some fundraisers during the month because of negotiations with congressional Republicans over the debt ceiling.
The party's fundraising includes $2.2 million for the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account by the DNC and Obama's campaign.
Obama's campaign and the DNC raised $86 million during the spring fundraising quarter ending in late June, giving it a substantial lead on the Republican presidential field.
Obama's campaign has said it does not expect to raise as much in the summer as it did during the spring because of the cancelled events.
