Democrats racked up another special election victory Tuesday — winning a state legislative seat in Connecticut previously held by a Republican, The Hill reported.

Former Stratford Town Councilman Philip Young defeated Bill Cabral in Connecticut's House District 120 to fill the seat left vacant by Republican Laura Hoydick, who became mayor of Stratford, Connecticut, in January.

Democrats have picked off Republican-held seats in Missouri, Florida, Kentucky and Wisconsin in special elections this year.
