Dem Committees Seek Cash from Lobbyists Shunned by Obama

President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee have trumpeted their refusal to accept campaign donations from lobbyists. But the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee are going the opposite route, vigorously soliciting K Street cash, Politico reports.

“The DSCC and the DCCC, clearly, they’re willing to take our money and have called. No question about it,” said a lobbyist who is a member of the DSCC’s Majority Trust, which comprises donors who give the maximum allowed under law. That’s $30,800 per year for this election cycle.

A look at the numbers explains DSCC and DCCC strategy. In last year’s elections, 122 lobbyists raised at least $8.9 million for Democratic candidates, according to a Politico analysis of Federal Election Commission data.
