Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez wants to end presidential caucuses, calling for the 2020 caucuses to be the last the Democratic Party ever holds.
Caucuses drew heat recently after the Iowa caucus results were delayed.
Perez plans to “use the bully pulpit as a former chair to make sure we continue the progress" of changing state caucuses,according to The Associated Press.
One change made by the DNC since the 2016 primary mandated that states with caucuses create a paper ballot system.
Perez didn't say if he thought Iowa and New Hampshire should be the first caucus and primary states following criticism that those states demographics are too white to give representative results for Democrats.
Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden finished poorly in both Iowa and New Hampshire. He came in a distant second in the Nevada caucuses before cruising to a victory in South Carolina caucuses, which had a largely black Democratic voting group.
