DeMint Digs at GOP Establishment in Rand Paul Kudo

Republican South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, who is projected as an easy winner for re-election over Democrat Alvin Greene, took a shot at the GOP establishment while congratulating Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul for his victory in Kentucky, Politico reports.

"I want to congratulate Rand Paul on winning a race that the leaders in his own party said he could not win. Rand overcame difficult odds because he consistently stood up for conservative principles," a DeMint statement said.

"Voters in Kentucky have done something truly historic today," DeMint said. "They've said 'no' to parochial, pork-barrel politics and sent an outstanding leader to the Senate.”
