Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., told Newsmax TV’s “The National Report” on Thursday that Congress should “wait” before passing another stimulus bill as leading members of both parties called for action on infrastructure.
Although President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., have both called for major infrastructure spending in the next coronavirus relief bill, Lesko thinks that Congress should wait, saying that now is not the time to focus on infrastructure.
“I think that we need to wait before we do any more stimulus bills to see how the last stimulus bill rolls out. As far as the infrastructure, I think that can wait,” she said, adding that Congress just passed a trillion-dollar bill, “and we need to balance helping the people… and making sure that our deficit is not so incredibly terrible that my great-grandchildren are paying for it, which is probably going to be the case.”
Lesko said, “I think it’s a balance, and is infrastructure something that we should look at in the future? Yeah, but is it something we need to do right now? I don’t think so.”
