President Donald Trump on Friday endorsed incumbent Tennessee Rep. David Kustoff in next week's Republican primary as he seeks a second term to Congress.

"David Kustoff has been a champion for the Trump agenda. I greatly appreciate his support," the president said on Twitter.

Kustoff, 51, a former prosecutor, faces George Flinn, a radiologist and broadcast-station owner, in the Aug. 2 primary.

Flinn has spent $2.7 million of his own money on the race, versus over $1 million spent by Kustoff, according to local news reports.
