Former Top Obama Adviser Axelrod: Election Is 'Primal Scream' By Voters

The former chief strategist for Barack Obama's presidential campaigns – and now a senior political commentator for CNN – described Donald Trump's stunning Election Day performance as a "primal scream."

"You look at the exit polls and whether they got the top-line numbers right or not, what is clear is there was a hunger for change among a lot of Americans," David Axelrod said, Politico reported.

And those people backed Trump "notwithstanding the fact that two-thirds of them said they didn't think he had the temperament or the qualifications" for the presidency, he added.

"This was a primal scream on the part of a lot of voters who are disenchanted with the status quo," he said.
