The budget flap currently being debated in the House was "orchestrated on purpose," says Rep. Dave Brat of Virginia, though he did not elaborate on how.
Brat, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus, said Sunday on
"Meet the Press"
"The governing up in this place always seems to mean increase spending," Brat said, adding that to the American people governing means "getting the ship going in the right direction."
As usual, the budget deal is being pushed off right up until Christmas, Brat said, even though the Budget Committee finished its work in the spring.
"The only chaos up here is (with lobbyists) on K Street," Brat said, "and then Democrats are freaking out because if we actually have to balance a budget."
Brat and Pennsylvania Rep. Charles Dent, a moderate Republican, verbally jousted with each other over the process after radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt pronounced "a pox on both your wings" for attacking each other over the House speaker race.
Dent said he would support Ryan if he gets the GOP caucus' backing. Brat said he would also – if Ryan supports his
points for governing.
