Rep. Brat: 'Freedom Caucus Has Been Yes' on Health Reform

Don't blame conservatives for the failure of GOP healthcare alternative to Obamacare, Rep. Dave Brat, a Virginia Republican and member of the House Freedom Caucus, said Tuesday.

"We've been to a 'yes' on several alternatives," Brat said in an interview on "The John Fredericks Show," a morning radio program broadcast from Chesapeake, Virginia.

"We got to a yes. We were going to vote yes for the healthcare bill. And then someone said no."

Brat said conservatives even backed a plan that allowed states to have flexibility.

"We said yes to that deal, in public, in the newspapers. And still it is reported like the House Freedom Caucus is holding this thing back."

Brat said he told reporters: "Dear press, go win a Pulitzer. See if you can find out where the no is ... The Freedom Caucus has been yes, yes, yes."
