Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., says Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy has done more harm to the state and ''has somehow managed to make the cure worse than the actual condition.''
''I think he needs to have a real dialogue with people,'' Van Drew said Thursday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s ''Spicer & Co.'' in response to a survey that said 74% of residents wouldn’t cooperate with coronavirus contact tracers.
''I don’t think it’s good when he calls constituents of this state who have a different viewpoint knuckleheads. I don’t think it's productive when you put in place policies that are quite frankly hurting our kids, hurting our educational system, hurting people psychologically, mentally, physically, because they are locked down.
''When you are hurting the state as a whole and you’re hurting the economy, that really is the worst of it,'' he added. ''I think in one fell swoop this governor has done more harm to this state and has somehow managed with this disease to make the cure worse than the actual condition. I think we can do a lot better than this.''
Van Drew also said Murphy’s wealth inhibits his ability to understand small business owners in the state.
''For him, he doesn’t really understand what people who have broken their back their whole lives to make a living, to build a small business, what they’re going through. It's mean, it's harsh, it's unacceptable,'' said Van Drew.
