Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., is calling for the United States to ramp up both economic and military pressure against China to retaliate for its handling of a coronavirus outbreak that became a global pandemic.
In an interview on Sinclair Broadcasting’s “America This Week,” Cotton listed a number of actions the United States can take.
"China has to be held accountable,” he said. “It has to start now and it has to represent a fundamental break with the business-as-usual model of doing business with China."
According to Cotton, "There's a lot of other things we need to do in our relationship with China that are frankly overdue.”
“And now is the time to do so,” he said.
Cotton suggested, for example, that not only should the United States continue to patrol the man-made islands that China has established in the South China Sea, but “we need to invest more in stealth bombers” and other military machinery to aid in that effort.
