Former President Jimmy Carter has urged fellow Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., to enter the running for president in the 2020 Democratic primary, The Hill reported, citing Cory Booker's Instagram Stories.

"I'm very glad to have you here this morning, and I hope you come back," Carter told Booker in an Instagram Stories video, according to the report. "And I hope you run for president."

Sen. Booker met former President Carter, the 39th U.S. president, at a Plains, Georgia, church service Sunday.

"You encouraging me means more to me than you can imagine," Booker reportedly tells Carter in the Instagram video.

Booker has not yet announced a campaign for president, but he did make light of the fact "Booker 2020" buttons are on sale at stores.

"I'm right next to Oprah 2020," Booker reportedly joked in the video.
