Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., on Sunday said he hoped a new coronavirus relief bill would get through the Senate, urging Democrats to stop focusing on the “next election rather than the next generation.”
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures ,” Kennedy said, “The Senate only works when everybody is not nuts at the same time.”
“The Republicans, we’ve got our act together” with a bill, Kennedy said. “Now it’s up to Sen. [Charles] Schumer [D-N..Y.] and [House] Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi [D-Calif.].”
Kennedy touted the GOP legislation as a “good bill,” and predicted, “if Schumer would allow it, we’d get enough votes.”
“They’re concentrating on the next election rather than the next generation,” he lamented about Democrats.
He also praised President Donald Trump for visiting Louisiana, which has been devastated by Hurricane Laura.
“It’ll take your breath away,” he said of the destruction, adding, Trump came to visit “and he brought his big guns with him.”
“I wanted him to see it first-hand,” he said.
