Corey Lewandowski chided Republicans for failing to support President Donald Trump's border promises and said it's "a shame" that Congress still hasn't passed comprehensive immigration reform.
Lewandowski, Trump's former presidential campaign manager, made the comments Thursday on Hill.TV.
"It's important to remember that the president promised to build this wall on the southern border and the Republicans, candidly, and the Democrats in Congress have failed to do that. They've failed to give the president the money he needs to do that, and there has to be accountability," Lewandowski told Hill.TV host Buck Sexton.
"We do not have a comprehensive immigration reform plan done, and that's a shame," Lewandowski said.
His comments come a day after House Republicans failed to pass a compromise immigration bill.
"This is something that has to get done. We seeing families separated at the border. We see children taken from their parents, but we also see this massive influx of people coming into our country illegally, and there's nothing we can do to stop it," Lewandowski said.
"That's not right," Lewandowski said. "It wouldn't be acceptable in any other country in the world, so we can't have it here."
