White House counselor Kellyanne Conway is backing President Donald Trump’s threat of “serious force” against any attempt to establish an autonomous zone in the nation’s capital — a statement flagged by Twitter for violating its policies against incitement.
In an interview on Sinclair Broadcasting’s “America This Week,” Conway blasted protesters’ efforts to establish the "Black House Autonomous Zone" across from the White House after attempting to topple a statue of Andrew Jackson.
"The president has said he's not going to allow that to happen and why he says that is because of what he sees going on in Seattle," Conway said.
She argued that Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan "has been played for a fool" and failed to stand up to protesters.
"Look, we encourage people to peacefully protest," Conway said. "But there's a huge difference between that and what we're seeing in some of these areas now."
Conway, who said she condemns the trashing of monuments of early American heroes, referred to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a "hypocrite" for calling for the removal of Confederate statues and portraits in the Capitol — saying she never did earlier in her political career.
