FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were "sexting" each other about the FBI's investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Thursday, before quickly correcting herself to say she'd actually meant they were "texting."
"It is very concerning to see two people sexting each other about this investigation," Conway told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" about Strzok and Page. "I mean texting each other about this investigation, on and on."
Strzok, a chief investigator in the Hillary Clinton investigation, and Page, an FBI attorney, were romantically involved, but no texts of a sexual nature have been released publicly.
Her comments came during a discussion about a text found in new batch of released messages between the two that revealed then-President Barack Obama wanted to "know everything we're doing."
"People are going to have to square there where the truth is," said Conway. "Now you see it goes all the way to the top, according to them, anyway."
Conway added that it's "unbelievable" about the activities at the FBI, including the revelations about British spy Christopher Steele, who wrote a salacious dossier alleging connections between Russia and President Donald Trump.
"This president has great respect for the rank and file in the FBI," said Conway. "We don't like what we see coming out of a few bad apples."
