Conservatives Take Aim at Budget

Conservative Republicans are adamant that government spending should be slashed substantially to shrink the gargantuan budget deficit. And they’re now working on exactly what programs to cut, Politico reports.

The Republican Study Committee, which constitutes the most conservative group in the House, has begun forming amendments that would halt funding for the new healthcare law, slice off $100 billion from domestic programs and require the government to pay back creditors before spending in other areas if the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling is reached.
