Ten Republican congressmen in districts seen as potentially vulnerable are being given a boost this week by $400,000 worth of radio advertisements, CBS News reported on Tuesday.
The money is being provided by the American Action Network (AAN), a conservative outside group allied with House Speaker Paul Ryan and comes after numerous Republican representatives faced hostile public meetings in their districts during the recent congressional recess.
The Hill reports that this week's ad blitz is part of $3.1 million the AAN has invested in advertising since the passage in the House of the controversial Republican healthcare plan.
The Senate is currently debating the details of the bill.
"Americans should know that their member of Congress kept their promise to fight for patient-centered health care," AAN Executive Director Corry Bliss said in a statement.
"AAN will continue to be aggressive in our effort to share that better care is on the way."
The campaign comes as the plan has fared poorly in public opinion polls.
In addition, Democratic groups this month have also launched a $500,000 ad campaign aimed at 24 congressional districts currently represented by Republicans who helped the House pass the healthcare plan that hopes to repeal and replace Obamacare, Politico reported.
The Democratic ads stress the Congressional Budget Office's estimate that 24 million people will lose their health coverage over the next decade if the Republican bill becomes law.
