Republican and Democratic lawmakers want to hear President Donald Trump's plan for action in Syria following the U.S. missile strike at an airbase in that troubled nation, Roll Call is reporting.

Many congressional members from both sides of the aisle supported the missile attack. But they maintained Trump needs to consult Congress before further action.

"As we move forward, it will be important for the administration to engage with Congress and clearly communicate its full strategy to the American people," said Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

CNN reported that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., praised the decision to go after Syria following the use of chemical weapons against its citizens. But, he added, Trump must make Congress aware of his plans for dealing with Syria.

"It is incumbent on the Trump administration to come up with a strategy and consult with Congress before implementing it," he said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan also supported the missile strikes, saying, "This action was appropriate and just."

He added: "I look forward to the administration further engaging Congress in this effort."

And Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., took to Twitter urging to cut short its recess and debate the issue.
