Rep. Carolyn Maloney's call for the FBI to investigate only Parler as a potential facilitator for messages sent concerning the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots shows bias on the part of Democrats concerning the role of social media, Rep. James Comer said Wednesday.
"What we all know from intelligence reports that we've received, is that there were as many people communicating on Facebook and Twitter as Parler but obviously, Parler is the choice of conservatives," the Kentucky Republican said on Fox Business' "Mornings With Maria." "Republicans quickly responded to FBI (to) please include Twitter, Facebook as well just to be balanced."
Last week, Maloney, D-N.Y, who chairs the House Oversight Committee, asked the FBI to conduct a "robust examination" of Parler's role in the riot, reports Fox News.
Republicans on the committee, including Comer, insisted the other social media sites be included in the investigation.
"Democrats used to be critics of Facebook and Twitter because they are big profitable companies," said Comer, but after the websites refused to run articles concerning the Hunter Biden scandal, that changed.
Meanwhile, Comer said he's joined with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and other prominent party leaders to ask President Joe Biden to reconsider his moratorium on mining and drilling.
"We have proven in the United States we can grow the energy economy while reducing carbon emissions," said Comer. "We all know that we have to have a balanced portfolio, with respect to the energy policy in America. It is very disappointing that Joe Biden is reverting back to the policies of the Obama-Biden administration."
