Although some national Republican outlets are pulling back financial support from Rep. Mike Coffman, R.-Colo., and polls consistently show the five-term lawmaker trailing Democrat Jason Crow, Republican activists in the Centennial State insisted to Newsmax “don’t blow off Coffman!”
“Although the polls show a consistent lead for Jason Crow, I strongly believe Mike Coffman can still pull this off,” former State GOP Chairman Dick Wadhams told us, “The polls have always lagged behind the outcome of Mike's previous victories. He was supposed to narrowly defeat two very prominent Democrats in 2014 and 2016 but ended up with very comfortable wins.”
Wadhams pointed out that “the diverse ethnic communities of the Sixth District will reward Coffman for the way he has tenaciously worked on their behalf in Congress.”
Coffman, a two-fisted veteran of both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, vigorously cultivates his district’s ethnic communities. In the last two years, for example, he has become fluent in Spanish and has been interviewed on Spanish-language programs. He was also named “Man of the Year” by the local Ethiopian community.
Two weeks ago, a New York Times/Siena College poll showed Crow — a Denver attorney and retired U.S. Army captain with tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq — leading Coffman by 47 to 38 percent. The margin of error was +/-4.5 percentage points.
