Hillary Clinton warned Republican senators they will prove to be "co-conspirators" if they fail to convict former President Donald Trump.
The Senate trial continued Wednesday, a day after House members began stating their case of impeaching Trump for inciting the protesters who rioted the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Clinton took to Twitter on Wednesday and said:
"If Senate Republicans fail to convict Donald Trump, it won't be because the facts were with him or his lawyers mounted a competent defense. It will be because the jury includes his co-conspirators."
The 2016 unsuccessful Democrat presidential nominee also retweeted a video of the edited video presented Tuesday by lead House impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md. The video omitted a part of Trump's Jan. 6 pre-riot speech in which he told supporters to "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."
"As Rep. Jamie Raskin said of Donald Trump inciting an insurrection as president: 'If that's not an impeachable offense, there is no such thing,'" Clinton wrote.
Clinton failed to mention Raskin had promised to impeach Trump before the former president formally took office, and also objected to the certification of the 2016 election results, per Breibart.
Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, tweeted a question Tuesday about whether the selectively edited video broke House Rules on "dissemination by electronic means, including by social media, of any image, video, or audio file that has been distorted or manipulated with the intent to mislead the public."
Six GOP senators sided with Democrats on Tuesday, deeming the trial constitutional after hours of debate.
They included Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine; Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah; Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb.; Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa.; and Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La.
