President Donald Trump's reelection campaign appears to taking a survey on whether there is support for a controversial plan to include a citizenship question in the 2020 census.
According to USA Today, the campaign sent supporters a "simple" question Monday: "Do you want the 2020 Census to ask if people are American citizens?"
Though the Census Bureau does not ask about citizenship, late last year, the Justice Department asked a question about citizenship be included on the form for the upcoming count.
Questions must be submitted to Congress by March 31.
Critics worry the question could skew an accurate count.
The Census counts the total number of people in the country, not the total number of citizens, USA Today noted.
