Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer explained Friday why voting on some of President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees has been delayed.
"The problems here are not our making. They were rushed through. They didn't file their ethics reports. They were ill-prepared," he said on "CBS This Morning" before Trump's inauguration.
The Senate will vote today on the nominees for Homeland Security, the Defense Department, and will most likely vote to confirm the nominee for CIA Director on Monday, according to Schumer.
"No CIA director has been confirmed on the first day of any president," he added, saying that "people are entitled to scrutinize him thoroughly."
"We're not delaying for its own sake, but at the same time, we're not going to rush these important nominations through until we get some answers."
Trump's choices to lead the departments of Labor, Education and the Office of Management and Budget are "tied up in knots," according to Schumer.
