Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he is awaiting the results of another coronavirus test after having spent time with Donald Trump to help the president prepare for the debate.

Trump announced early Friday that he and first lady Melania have both tested positive for COVID-19.

Christie made his comments on ABC’s  “Good Morning America” on Friday. He said he had been at the White House “on and off” between Saturday and Tuesday. He had been tested every day while at the White House and the results were negative.

“I feel fine,” Christie said. “ I don’t feel any symptoms at this time. I obviously hope it remains that way.”

During the debate preparation with the president, “no one was wearing masks in the room,” he said. “The group was about 5 or 6 people in total.”

He said that when he left the White House on Tuesday, the “president seemed completely fine.”

Christie, in a Friday tweet, noted: "I want to thank all who have called and texted in the last few hours to check on my health. I feel fine and have no symptoms. I was last tested for COVID on Tuesday (it was neg) and was tested this morning. No results until tomorrow. I will let you know the results from here."
