Counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway and CNN morning show host Chris Cuomo dueled for nearly 20 minutes Friday morning over what, if any, role Russia played in the election.
Cuomo's basic question, asked repeatedly: Why won't President-elect Donald Trump acknowledge what the intelligence community is unified in its findings that Russia interfered with the election?
Conway's basic response, answered many different ways: There's no definitive proof, and Russia tampering is simply a bright shiny object the media is using to delegitimize Trump's victory.
"Remember, the moment you mention Russian hacking and the election, the same sentence, you know what the impression is for a lot of the viewers," Conway told Cuomo on CNN's "New Day" morning show. "I really believe that there are those out there who are trying to delegitimize his presidency, review the election results, and you know it."
At one point, Cuomo asked Conway, "Why would Trump shelter Russia?" which earned a sharp rebuke from Trump's adviser:
"He's not sheltering Russia, don't you say that again. He's not sheltering Russia," Conway said.
Cuomo, after saying, "I love you, Kellyanne, and you know it," accused Team Trump of "ducking the obvious."
"Hey Chris, not ducking a thing. Not my style," Conway said.
